I finally got back my “Personal Use” FUSION after midnight this morning. Over a month ago PU FUSION locked upped and crashed. I did a reinstall and it put me into a 30 day trial of FULL Fusion. Didn’t loose any files but for 30 days it has been pounding at me to buy a full license before the trial ran out. Absolutly no way to just get back to the personal use version. There is a separate Personal Use website but even it loads the 30 day trial. I even tried to re-register as personal use. no effect.
I found a very obscure refference in a Q&A list somewhere in my search that if I waited out the (My words “POUNDING to BUY:”) 30 day free trial it would revert back to the Personal Use version.
Yep, it just did. It closed all my open files and reminded me I could only have 10 open. (I almost never need more than one open)
My conclusion the crash was probably deliberate, so they could browbeat me for 30 days to buy at last the $600+/yr subscription. while keeping the fact hidden it would revert back to Personl use after 30 days of “lose everythng” fear mongoring.

I work in Onshape (free-hobbyist version) for many of my 3D printing CAD drawings. It’s my alternative to the Hobbyist version of Fusion 360.
I like using both. They are commercial quality CAD and are free.

I am a bit of a 3D CAD software brand shifter. I “play” with different band name systems. Mostly because I want to see how each product approaches the drawing process. Also, what special engineering analysis features they include in Hobbyist versions.

Picked up a new CAD (for me) application. One of the industry major players. Called SolidWorks.
It has been pure unobtainium for me because of it’s professional use high cost. Recently I discovered they offered a “maker” subscription for non-commercial use.

After a fair evaluation between Rhino8 and PUF360... (Personal Use F360)
I have determined Rhino8 is useable but far more complex than needed for the creation of 3D printable items. I will continue to "play" with Rhino8 as I already own it and I am able to produce nice designs. However, the effort is far more tough and time consuming than designing with PUF360 and Onshape.

I do the three-dimensional printing because I enjoy the creative process of the design. Learning how to use the printer is the same as using any tool. The printer is not creative. It’s a tool. The artist’s paint brush does not create art. It simply carries the paint to the canvas.
The 3D printer is the same. It is a tool that melts plastic and applies it to the build table. It has no control of the Item design it is making if the design is within the capabilities of the tool.
A carpenter does not use a saw to drive a nail.

Tried a new CAD (Computer Aided Design) I haven’t used before. It’s called Onshape.
I have used a fair number of different CAD applications. For 3D CAD, I have been a long user of Autodesk Fusion 360. I own a single user paid license. It will expire in about 6 months. A three year renewal is $1400 (list) without a sale or renewal discount.
